From October 23rd Important Update on Timelines to Request Your FBA Reimbursements

Dear Seller,
Q4 hasn't even started yet and we already have several updates...
Today we want to talk to you about an important update regarding your FBA Reimbursements: last July 24th Amazon in fact announced important changes to reimbursement policies, which will have a significant impact on the timelines for submitting your requests and on the FBA Reimbursements you can actually receive.
Until today, we had up to 18 months to file claims on: losses, damages, destructions, shipments, customer returns and issues related to FBA removal orders. However, from October 23rd, these timelines will be drastically reduced to just 2 months for some types of claims.
Amazon's Announcement
Let's read Amazon's announcement together:
"Starting November 1, 2024 [...] if you don't receive an automatic reimbursement and believe your inventory was lost or damaged, you'll need to file a manual request. Additionally, all removal requests will still need to be filed manually.
Starting October 23, we're updating our eligibility window policy.
All manual requests must now be submitted within the following timelines:
- The request for an item lost or damaged at the fulfillment center must be submitted within 60 days of the item being reported as lost or damaged
- The FBA customer return request can be submitted between 60 and 120 days from the customer refund or replacement date. Requests should not be submitted before 60 days to ensure the customer has time to return the item.
- The removal request for items lost during transport can be submitted between 15 and 75 days from the shipment creation date. Requests should not be submitted before 15 days.
- All other removal requests must be submitted within 60 days of delivery to your selected address.
We understand you may need to make changes to your current processes [...] To ensure you have the necessary time to adapt, the new policy will take effect on October 23.[...]"
But What Does All This Mean for You?
The new FBA Reimbursements regulation implies two important changes in the logic adopted until today for requesting your FBA Reimbursements:
-
If you don't request all your current FBA Reimbursements before October 23rd, you'll risk completely losing all your FBA Reimbursement opportunities recorded in the last 18 months! This means we have until October 23rd to promptly request your FBA Reimbursements from the last 18 months!
-
After October 23rd, you'll have very little time to action new Reimbursement requests in ALL circumstances where you can actually get your money back. If before you could take it more calmly and do this activity sporadically, now no more as you'll have an average of 2 months for requesting each FBA Reimbursement. This implies an important focus on this activity to sift through all opportunities and not miss a single euro! Quite burdensome, isn't it?
